  15. Auto Task 2000 is a scheduling service for Windows 
  16. 95/98/ME/NT40/2000/XP. It is designed to automatically run programs 
  17. at specified times without the need for user interaction. With 
  18. AutoTaskÆs feature rich functionality, it supports a variety of 
  19. automation needs. Listed below are some of the features support:
  20.  
  21. * Ability to define multiple commands per each task.
  22. * Run tasks at specified frequency, like daily, weekly, monthly. 
  23. * Run tasks repeatedly at specified intervals such as every xx 
  24.   minutes and xx hours.
  25. * Run tasks under the system account or user accounts(NT/2000/XP), 
  26.   thereby controlling the resources to which the program will have 
  27.   access.
  28. * Determines whether the tasks should be allowed to interact 
  29.   with any logged-on user(NT/2000/XP).
  30. * Run tasks regardless of whether any user is logged on.
  31. * Run tasks based on whether or not a defined condition is met, 
  32. such as file exist, file has changed or application running.
  33. * Sends user defined keys to applications to emulate operation that 
  34.   would normally be done by a user interacting with the program.

  36. INSTALLATION NOTES

  38. Most likely the first time you install AutoTask, the installation 
  39. program will ask you whether or not to replace DLLs that are 
  40. currently in use. You must answer yes and reboot your PC before the 
  41. program will work correctly.

  43. Windows 95/98 users require that DCOM95/DCOM98 be installed. If you 
  44. have not yet installed this Microsoft program, do so before 
  45. installing AutoTask. You can download these file from the following 
  46. URLs:

  49. Note! 98 users will also need IE5.1 or greater installed.

  51. If installing on Windows NT/2000/XP the installation program will
  52. automatically setup AutoTask as a service.

  55. NOTE TO VERSION 2.xx USERS (UPGRADING)

  57. As this version has many design changes we recommend highly that you
  58. backup your data files. The installation is setup to automatically 
  59. backup the files for you. Simply answer "YES" to the backup dialog
  60. boxes. If you do not backup your tasks files and decide to return to
  61. a previous version you will have to recreate the tasks files 
  62. manually.

  64. NOTE! If you answer "YES" to backups and install to the same directory
  65. you will be able to return to the previous version simply by 
  66. uninstalling.

  68. We have taken great care to automatically convert previous tasks and
  69. dat files to the new version. However we recommend you review the 
  70. tasks for correct parameters after the installation is complete.

  72. Where both scheduled and conditions triggers were being used in the 
  73. previous version you will find two task. The original with the 
  74. scheduled trigger and a new task with the name 
  75. "Trigger for - <originalname>. The command in this trigger tasks will
  76. be to call the original task command list.
